If you are as into the whole Love Jones meets Cool Cat Club movement as much as I am, you will absoultely love Tillmans Lounge located on 26th and 7th street.
After hearing about this swank lounge for weeks I decided I had to try it out.
In the city, there is nothing like adding a new after-work happy hour spot to your current repertoire.
Tillmans Lounge is decked out in trendy decor from brown interior to portraits of musical greats including Billie Holiday and Bob Marley. The atmosphere is really cool and relaxed, and its a mature crowd where you will not have to worry
about too many damn college kids!
The wait staff at Tillams is extremely friendly but the drinks are
expensive as hell. So for those of you that are not light-weights like
myself you may want to hit up a happy hour beforehand and then come to Tillmans, to lounge and enjoy the music, which happens to be the highlight of this venue.
Tillmans offers nightly events for music lovers, and I am not talking
about those of you that worship 50 Cent or Ciara. I am referring to
those that have a true passion for music.
From Swagger Thursdays hosted by MTV’s Sway, Turntable Mondays and Sweet Lick Saturdays, this lounge
offers music for everyone. I usually go on Thursdays and each time never disapppoints – the jazz and neo soul selections always keep my fingers tapping and head nodding at the table.
While feeling the music and sipping cocktails, what better to set the
night off right than with a nice soul food dish. I would suggest the
grilled cheese sandwich, wings and the strawberry shortcake which sits well with a nice glass of champagne.
Also for those of you that are looking to pounce on people, this is not the place for that. Its a lounge so there won’t be any pop lock and dropping for that matter.
This is a good date spot or place to come for drinks with your girls.
Until my next experience in the city, take a trip to Tillmans and
experience a renaissance movement all within the walls of a lounge.

…would kick my ass if I overlooked this one.
The LEGENDARY Delicious Vinyl (J. Dilla, Brand New Heavies, The Pharcyde) celebrates its 20th anniversary this THURSDAY, and you special people are invited.
If you know music, you’re already strapping up your boots in anticipation.

By now, I trust that everybody has their tickets to Sneaker Pimps, right?
Just checking.
Here’s some more trouble to get into this weekend. Just because I’m nice like that.
Guess what? You dont HAVE to go to LA to be able to enjoy a Colt 45 minus the ridicule from your friends.

See the new Halle Berry flick (free!) before it hits theaters.
Tommorow night at Regal Union Square Stadium 14
But here’s what you gotta do to score tickets:
ANY PRINTOUT OF JUST THE SCREENING INFO WILL NOT BE HONORED.
NO PRINTER, NO ENTRY, NO EXCUSES.

Another dope ass event, especially those still “high” from the Sneaker Pimps jumpoff.

Geez, this weekend just keeps getting better and better!

From Going.com:
Unless you’ve been hiding under a bolder for the last 8 years, you’ve heard of Harriet’s Alter Ego. This lifestyle & clothing boutique/art gallery serves as a hub for both makers and consumers of bona fide style, art & culture.
Soooooooo, the fly chickies at Harriets have collaberated with brilliant portrait photographer and filmmaker Kareem Black to bring you ACCESS.
You wanna be there to experience the magic? Well join the HAE crew this Sunday 10/14 for a snazzy Opening Reception, for yet another ridiculously “mature” art and booze (shhhhhh don’t tell em I told u) filled evening.

More Parties and Bullshit:

You need to be here. Shit, I need to be here but I gotta jet outta town for this coonfest called the BET Hip Hop Awards.
Dope sneakers, Nas, skate demos, Slick Rick The Ruler, cool folks….
If you’re attending, let me know how it goes.

Since apparently, you can’t turn one into a housewife.
Superhead is back with new tales of debauchary, all in the name of “warning young women about the woes of living the fast life”.
Umm, yeah…we don’t believe you, you need more people.
But with a new book, this smut peddler “author” needs to up her face time. Pun intended.
Have a drink, dance, or trade blow-job stories with the legend herself, tonight @ Eugene’s

And if you’re not able to get into the Spotlight Live event with Trey tonight, you’ve got a second chance to run your fingers through those country ass conrows.
I hear the album is hot, who’s getting me a copy??

I know, I know. I’m going to try and lay off the Kanyeezie quotes…but he’s just so damn loveable. I kept replaying his hissy fit all through the weekend.
Anywho, by the looks of this weather…we’re entering the realms of FALL. More clothing, less daylight time. But with the many events coming up just ahead, we all should be able to cope. If not, we could just keep YouTubing the Kanye bitchfit. (I’M SORRY! I’m done for sure this time!! )
Welcome to a new week. Celebrate today and tommorow with free vodka and food.

Located in the East Midtown area of New York City, Asia de Cuba NEVER disappoints. From the lively music to the breathtaking decor, this restaurant will definitely advance your cool points whether you are trying to take someone on a date or simply going out with friends. The restaurant is draped in white curtains and elegant lighting. And when you walk in you are greeted with a long marble table that is located across from a beautiful waterfall. The food is served family-style and each time the chefs outdo themselves. The short ribs, calamari salad, rock shrimp, and Cuban spiced chicken are to die for! Do yourself a favor and indulge yourself in these delectable treats when you go. To complete the ambiance, the staff is friendly as well. I have been to Asia De Cuba three times, and each time I received extraordinary service.

For all of those that are into the movie scene: one cool thing to note is that a scene from Perfect Stranger featuring Halle Berry and Bruce Willis was filmed here. Next time you watch the movie, pay close attention, you can’t help but to notice the beauty and decor of the restaurant. Okay, stop thinking about when you may want to go, and make your reservation. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. (Editor’s Note-Kim took me here for my birthday back in May, GREAT FOOD!)

So what this page doesn’t get 100,000 hits a day? (Yet)
So what if we were overlooked in Vibe Magazine’s round-up of top influential blogs? (If it was Complex or Missbehave, I might be a little miffed)
So what if don’t bring in so much ad revenue that we’re featured in Forbes? (again..yet)
All that matters is that we keep doing our thing, and you guys love us for that. We don’t know if its because we keep you up on all the events and fashion, or you just love our “we don’t give a fuck” attitude. Either way, we’re major because of YOU. So keep writing in, letting us know what you love AND hate and we promise we’ll never change. Unless Coca-Cola buys us out like Vitamin Water. Then we’ll be a problem.
Oh, and by the way….we’re major because we have readers like Ayuri (myspace.com/theladyayuridior)..who reps us to the fullest. Check this out:
