Meet Kesh.

If you’re on the party scene, you’ve probably seen her rocking the joint.

Either DJing or just being the social butterfly that she is.

If not, you’ve probably seen one of her designs.

Because all the cool people wear them.

In any event, meet this real-life style icon. Not because she wears uber-expensive designer clothes, or is always up on the latest “it” bag. Truth be told, the bulk of her wardrobe “costs less than a large pizza.”

Kesh is a Citizen Du Monde style icon because in a world where the norm seems to be the mindless following of trends, she sticks out like a sore thumb painted with polka dots. She’ll throw on an outfit you wouldn’t dare wear, but it’s probably for the best because YOU couldn’t possibly rock it as well as she does.

And when she’s not “upstaging you hoes” she’s dressing the celebrity world. Kanye and Lupe dig her, as well as you should. Hot shit, as she’s barely old enough to buy liquor in the U.S.

So when/if you see Miss Kesh on the streets, in the club, or coming out of your boyfriend’s house, your best bet is to just do that little head-nod thing. Because a wise man once said:

I got cabin fever.

Bad.

I have “island blood” so when it’s terribly cold outside…I lock myself in the crib, blast the heat, and try not to go crazy from boredom.

Well, boredom has set in….so I think I’m going to bundle up like a newborn baby and brave the elements.

I got a couple of options in mind to make it worth my while though.

Tonight….one of Citizen’s favorite magazines is hosting a party worth crashing.

A mash-up of hip-hop, reggae, and rock…via some dope ass DJs.

Be there or hear about it tomorrow.

If I’m venturing out in bone-chilling weather…might as well warm my belly as well.

It’s Restaurant Week in the city, meaning it’s one of the best times of the year to try out that spot you’ve been eyeing but had a feeling it would wreak havoc on your wallet.

Snag any remaining reservation slots at Open Table.

Citizen’s picks? Why, Asia de Cuba of course.

And any place where a steak could cost you a second mortgage.

Beat the system.

The Spotted Pig-Review

Okay, okay…so pubs are not just in Russia, and all of them do not come

equipped with beer toting, obscenely huge and sloppy men.

Located just outside the West Village, The Spotted Pig is an elite gastro pub and yes,

they serve more than pork where many NY’ers have called one of their fav

spots.

The Pig is not too big in size and the decor is simple and classy giving

it a true tavern feel. The pig statues, brick walls, and paintings of

various vegetables add to this effect. If you have back problems I

would warn you though..you may want to be careful since they’re aren’t

any backs to the stools.

My experience at the Spotted Pig was pretty good even though I can be

picky at times. The wait time was less than an hour, although I have

heard on certain nights the wait time can exceed two hours. The wait

staff was also pretty friendly. The overall crowd and audience was also

prety laid back, not necessarily your 5 star restaurant crowd.

I will say that The Pig has an interesting menu. However there are some

things that you have to try including the deviled eggs…how often do

you find this selection at an eatery? The ricotta gnudi is wonderfully

seasoned,but if you prefer simple things the burger and shoe string

fries are also mouth watering. For those of you that are not beer

drinkers…you have to try one at this pub. It goes great with the food

and if you don’t have one you’re going to feel like an outcast. Live \a

little! Hard alcohol is not the only thing you can drink. After you have

stuffed yout face, the ginger cake is a good way to end the night and

how could I forget the pumpkin salad!?

I know you are thinking how much could all these wonderful treats

be..well the prices are not cheap but they are not too expensive

either…most entrees start at about $18, but its def worth trying at

least once. Whether its for a classic evening out with friends or even

a cool ass date I would def recommend the Spotted Pig.

Also groupies this is another spot where you may see a B-list celeb or two.

Museum of Sex-Review

If you are looking for are a not so average evening, make your way to 27^th and 5^th avenue to the Museum of Sex…yes I did say that three letter word. While you may be thinking what type of pervert would go to this museum, there is so much more to these walls of erotica then what you may think. The museum actually takes a deep dive into the cultural history of human sexuality, while it also addresses issues, stereotypes and current trends around this topic…go figure.

If you are a prude however, I suggest that you do not visit the museum as some of the exhibits can be controversial. Once of them including Kink: Geography of the Erotic Imagination exhibit. This interactive exhibit allows museum visitors to participate by wearing costumes and exploring various fetishes. The other notable exhibit includes Spotlight on the Permanent Collection which highlights eight themes: sex education, mapping sex in America, sex in advertising, and sex in entertainment just to name a few. Wow, there is nothing like an interesting evening with history right!!!???

The museum has a slightly expensive cover of $15, but I would definitely say its worth it. There is no other place like this museum in the city or even across the US to my knowledge unless you go to the Bunny Ranch in the middle of nowhere. This actually may be the closest that you can get to that…Just Kidding. I would recommend this place for a nice date..of course not the first one or maybe an evening out with friends after a couple of drinks. I am sure the museum would be entertaining.

The museum is open everyday except special holidays and they close at 8pm, so the next time you would like to be freaky naughty in public with others..take a trip to the Museum of Sex….people will not believe the pictures that will be housed in your digital camera after you leave…wink!

Weekend Edition-January 9-13th

Damn, I love a New Year.

Maybe because I’m a “planning freak”, and getting a new planner and writing down events and happenings just seem to make my day.

And suffice it to say, all of these events are getting their own special place in my brand spanking new planner.

Finally, a listening party without the major label bullshit.

It’s a celebration, BITCHES.

Grand Opening of the China Club this weekend.

Anybody who attempts that “What did the Five Fingers Say To the Face” joke, will be stomped into the ground beyond recognition.

Ahh…I was just reminiscing yesterday about the times when folks used to actually DANCE at parties.

And when your biggest fear wasn’t getting hit by a stray bullet, but if that cutie from school would ask you to “bust a move” on the dance floor.

Well, this night..you can at least PRETEND.

I’d still rock a vest underneath my Cross Colors, though.

Lotus Lounge-Review

If you are one of those people that can hang and party during the middle
of the week like myself….there is only one place to be on Wednesday
nights and that is Lotus Lounge located in the Meatpacking District.

This venue is an Asian restaurant by day – the food is not that satisfying.
However, the Pineapple fried rice will actually have you yearning for
more. By night, Lotus is a lounge with wooden walls and metal beaded
curtains. The black sleek couches and dim lighting add to the smooth
ambiance of the lounge and it is not a surprise why so many special
events are held at this location.

If you need to get drunk before you cut a rug you may want to pregame
before heading to Lotus. The drinks run at about $15..not exactly happy
hour prices and they do not have an extensive wine list if that’s what
you’re into.

When I went to the lounge on a Wednesday the music and crowd were great and from what I hear Thursday and Friday are good as well. If you are lucky you may run into some B list celebs and be ready to pose for Talk
of NY photographers who will be working tiredlessly to snap a flick of you.

Occasionally though, unlike most NY hot spots you will have to deal with
meathead bouncers that take their nightsticks too seriously. Nevertheless
if you are cute you should be fine…fellas, you may have to put in more
effort, unless Zena is working the door.

With that being said…take a trip to Lotus mid week…then if you are
not tired…go again on the weekend….pregame first and save room for
pineapple fried rice…

Nobu 57-Review

Located in Tribeca, celebrity hot spot Nobu 57 is a force to be reckoned with.

When you first walk into the restaurant you will be taken aback
by the decor. The furniture is very trendy and it gives you the feeling that you left the streets of NY and entered a Japanese lounge with nicely dim lights.

When I went to this beautiful location I was with a large party and the wait staff did an exceptional job, considering how needy my group was.
We ordered at least one of each thing off the menu but the shots of saki will have you on your ass. Avid sushi fans will be in Heaven in Nobu, but if you prefer simple things like myself they also have a rock shrimp and teriyaki chicken dish that will have you yearning for more. It’s also important to note that you will be paying a pretty penny for this delicious food, so come with a clean credit balance! In other words the food is expensive…so if you are cheap you will not be allowed to say “No Boo” when you get the check…pun intended.

Although the decor and food definitetly are rewarding, I was not a fan of the music. They were playing new age tunes between a mix of house. Not exactly my favorite. The bright side to this is that once you start stuffing your face and/or are either drunk from the saki the music will not even bother you that much.

For the groupies out there, Nobu will usually have a celeb or two early in the week. I went on a Tuesday and saw a character from the Sopranos. Exciting right?

In leui of the holidays, if you are not broke from Christmas shopping you should defitnetly check out this restaurant. The experience will be rewarding, just remember to bring your ipod if the music starts to bother you.
